Why did Smarter Technologies acquire other companies?

Smarter Technologies was formed in May 2025 by merging three New Mountain Capital–backed firms, Access Healthcare, SmarterDx, and Thoughtful AI, to create a comprehensive AI-powered platform for healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM). The aim was to integrate deep clinical intelligence, agentic AI, and traditional RCM operations, into one flexible and scalable solution.
